Corporate Charity Challenge Event Case Study

Updated: Feb 3

In this part of our Case Studies Series, we interview Karen, who is the senior events manager at GBG Plc and works with us to deliver their annual charity challenge event.

"For over 18 years now, the ‘GBG Challenge’ has been a recognised and beloved part of life at GBG. In recent years, the challenge has gone global, with events now happening in multiple countries, participant numbers and fundraising totals have risen year on year. In 2024, we had over 300 participants globally, covered over 4,260 km (2,647 miles) which equalled over six million steps! The teams raised a grand total of almost £26,000.

The objective is simple – our team members come together to take on a physically demanding challenge to raise money for the charities that we've chosen to support through the financial year. It is hands down the best team building / team bonding that we do, and it all happens naturally from team members supporting and encouraging each other during the event and getting together socially after the event.

The team at Peak Events have worked with us on our UK Challenge for a number of years now and frankly we wouldn’t want to do it without them. They take the stress out of the event for me and the team who help me organise it. A lot of work happens before the event, from sourcing the venue, finding suitable accommodation, and planning the routes. We have to cater for a wide range of ability and experience as the event is supposed to be a challenge for everyone taking part and everyone’s challenge levels are different.  Knowing Guy / Gavin and team are there to support us on the day is amazing, the safety of our team and their enjoyment is paramount and having the Peak Events team with us means we can achieve this year after year.

I would highly recommend working with The Peak Events Team, they are experts in their field, very thorough and knowledgeable, it’s great knowing we are in safe hands, and we see them as an extension of our team when we are planning and executing the GBG Challenge event each year."

Karen Franklin, Senior Events Marketing Manager, GBG PLC.
